International Self-Care Day is observed annually on July 24. It's a global event that highlights the importance of self-care and encourages us to prioritise our well-being.

The day is meant to be a reminder that self-care is a 24/7 commitment and a vital component of overall health. It's also a chance to raise awareness about the benefits of self-care.

We all have a role to play in promoting and maintaining our own health. Self-care empowers us to be active agents in our own healthcare, putting us at the very centre.

Self-care actions are habits, practices and lifestyle choices – things we can do to help look after ourselves and lead a healthier life. They include but are not limited to:

💖Taking regular physical activity

💖Eating a healthier diet

💖Looking after our mental and spiritual health

💖 Quitting or cutting down on alcohol and tobacco

💖 Spending quality time in nature

For self-care today, I woke up early today to a beautiful sunrise, did a meditation, spent a couple of hours doing qigong, and then weeded and planted a box full of vegetable seedlings in my garden ready for spring harvest. Now I’m ready for an early night! 💖🫛🌱☀️

Did you manage some self care today?
